When my sisters and I were little we used to spend a lot of time at our Nannas house. Way back when there was no DS or IPad we were easily pleased with simple things like who got to pick the colour of the play dough! I do remember Nanna standing at the stove mixing and cooking that dough. Fast forward to our fast paced no mucking around world and you now don’t have to cook the play dough! That’s right! Get a pen and write this down:
Renees Ready To Go Play Dough Recipe
2 Cups Plain Flour
2 Cups Boiling Water
1 Cup Salt
2 Table Spoons Vegetable Oil
1 Table Spoon Cream of Tarte
Get the kids around the kitchen bench they will love to get involved. Give them things that they can reach to get ready, bowl, wooden spoon, let them pick the colour! Put all the dry ingredients in the bowl, let them get their hands in and give it a stir.
Then the adult part, you pour in the hot water with the oil and food colouring.Mix it up until it forms a sludge, then it will start to form a dough, you may need to add some extra flour to help it a long.
Tip it out of the bowl on to the bench and kneed it until it starts to look like play dough. It might be a bit hot from the boiling water so keep little fingers amused until it has cooled.
Warning. This does not guarantee you peace and quiet. Quite the opposite in fact. You will now be required to sample cup cakes, doughnuts, comment on snails and unicorns, sorry.
