So with Easter behind us you are probably feeling guilty about how many Hot Crossed Buns covered in butter you devoured and how many chocolate bunnies you put away! Lucky it’s Monday because everyone always says they will start on Monday, so get started girl! Today I am sharing what I have for breaky everyday, having a great breaky can put you in the right frame of mind for your entire day.
I start my day with a bowl of oats, not instant oats in sachets with sugar and artificial flavours, just a $1.99 packet of black and gold oats, nothing added, nothing bleached and nothing taken out. I have it with skim milk, soy or almond milk is also a good option. Then if you eat it like this, it is good for you but I am going to show you how to make it so much yummier.
I have a tub that I keep all my healthy bits and pieces in so it makes it easier when making breaky or smoothies. Then I add a table soon of vanilla protein powder, this gets rid of the cardboard taste! By adding chia seeds you are adding Omega fatty acids, by adding cinnamon you are flavour and it helps to stabilize your blood sugar levels, so no crash and crave at 11am. I add LSA (linseed, sunflower seeds and almond meal), and top with chopped banana and slithered almonds.
It is so good that it will taste like dessert. It will really satisfy you as it has a crunch, a bit of spice, sweet vanilla taste and protein to fill you up. This keeps me going until I get home from the gym and have a poached egg on toast at 1030-11am. Give it a try, its easy, healthy, yummy and worth it.

Angela, this breaky is so yummy. Ditch the sugar and try this it’s the best start to the day, the vanilla protien powder makes it taste like a cupcake!! Play around with it until you get it just the way you like it. R

I love porridge and have it most mornings, especially in the colder weather. I was wondering about adding protein powder – I worry about it making the porridge taste a bit yuck. I haven’t tried protein powder for years. I see you’re using Nature’s Way, I was thinking of getting that – could you please tell me if it changes the taste of the porridge much?
I also add flaxmeal to my porridge, and sultanas, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg. And maple syrup!….. . I might have to replace the maple syrup with chia and LSA.

Kylie, haha you know it lose the maple syrup! Adding protein doesn’t make it yuck vanilla protein makes it yummo for me! Head to a Health Food store say you are BF (if you still are) and ask for a suitable one, you’d pay around $20! Yes very worth it, at the moment your Porridge is a sugar bomb that goes bang around 10am (am I right) add the protein you’ll be fuller for so much longer! R

One more question! Where do you buy your Nature’s Way from?

Coles $20 (was on sale $14 I noticed this week). Bit chalky I trusted old Michelle Bridges but found a nicer one Body shaping protein for women by BSC from Woolworths $27 just seems to blend better. Search Protein in my search bar on the blog i’ve done a few posts about choosing protein powder. R
