Congratulations on deciding to run your first Fun Run that’s a big decision but with an even bigger reward
I have run in a few Fun Runs now ranging from 4kms with Mr 9 to 12km City to Bay multiple times. The best bit for me has been the fundraising for charity as I have now raised over $1000 with all my runs for children’s charities and breast Cancer research. If you want a goal to help you get moving a Fun Run is the prefect motivation. It comes with a dead line and accountability of telling your family. Fun Runs are not scary they are believe it or not fun! Google Fun Run’s in your area and start running now, even a 3-4km Fun Run is enough to get you moving and a great goal for your own health and fitness.

For Your Best Results Here’s What Works For Me
1. Hydrate. In the days leading up to the run drink lots of water. Start about three days out and just make a conscious effort to drink more water than usual. This will have you hydrated for the run day. As you don’t want to drink heaps that morning as you will be peeping enough as you will be nervous.
2. Eat Well. Eat well in the lead up also. Choose high water content foods as they will also help hydrate you. Also eat carbs starting a few days out so they are stored in your body for the run. When you run the first half of the runs energy will come from what you’ve eaten that night and morning, the rest will come from what you have already stored.
3. Morning Of Your Run. Do what you would normally do before a run or workout. Don’t try anything new on the day of the run. Not the day to experiment at all keep to your routine that works when you trained so it is trialed and tested and will work perfectly for race day.
The biggest thing is don’t over think it, just go there run and have some fun and feel amazing at the end when you have achieved your goal. Try getting involved with the fundraising for the event that will also motivate you hugely. If you have never actually ran the distance of the Fun Run you will be surprised at how much you can do on the day when your adrenaline takes over. Enjoy your Fun Run then find the next one you will go in.
